ABS plastic is easy to absorb moisture, and once there is moisture, the surface of the injection molded product will be damaged.
There are water spots, therefore, ABS must be at 80~100 ℃ when processing such as injection molding.
Under the temperature, dry for 4~8h (depending on the actual situation), after ABS is mixed with the color masterbatch, it is dried like ABS. It is necessary to control the drying temperature, because the oven temperature is set too high during drying, which will easily cause the color masterbatch to melt and stick to the hopper surface.
* ABS resin has both the impact resistance of styrene resin and the oil resistance of AS resin. Its full name is acrylonitrile-butadiene copolymer plastic, which was developed in the 1940s to obtain a terpolymer based on the modification of polystyrene resin. Since ABS is copolymerized by three monomers, it can show the synergistic properties of the three components.
There are two kinds of manufacturing methods of ABS: polymer blending method and grafting method. According to the requirements of use, different manufacturing methods can be used to produce ABS with different characteristics. They have high impact resistance, medium impact resistance, high rigidity, low temperature impact resistance and heat resistance, etc. Although there are many types of ABS resins, But the colorants used are generally the same. The colorant used in ABS requires good heat resistance and weather resistance, and strong hiding power. Commonly used colorants are titanium dioxide; cadmium-based pigments, iron red, ultramarine, carbon black and other inorganic pigments, as well as phthalocyanine-based organic pigments, quinacridone-based organic pigments.
Due to the rubber component contained in ABS, color unevenness may occur during coloring. The dyeing is different, the reflection is different, and the color light seen is also different. Due to the large amount, the dispersibility of the pigment has become a technical problem.
In addition, ABS resin is prone to discoloration by heat and ultraviolet radiation, so it is necessary to choose a pigment with relatively small variability.
The effect of pigments on the ultraviolet aging of ABS resin is the same as that of polystyrene and other plastics. ABS will accelerate aging when exposed to ultraviolet rays, especially its rubber components with dimerization are more susceptible to ultraviolet rays.
When selecting pigments for ABS resin, the impact on the resin should be fully considered, such as ABS resin products used outdoors, and suitable pigments with high concentration and strong covering power should be used as much as possible to improve the light resistance of the polymer itself.
